Selenite’s Pale Terraces
This selenite candle holder has a pale, layered presence: white to off-white surfaces, soft grey shading between the ridges, and bright highlights tracing closely spaced parallel lines. Uneven steps give its squat, roughly rounded outline an individual character. A circular opening sits within the pale, ridged form.
Selenite takes its name from Selene, the Greek moon goddess, a reference to the pale, moon-like reflection it can show. Here, the stepped surfaces invite a small imagined world: a terraced garden of white paths and shaded ledges, lit by a warm point of flame.
