Amethyst Candlelight, a Landscape of Lavender
A little landscape of uneven peaks gives this amethyst piece its distinctive character. Pale lavender and purple mingle with whitish, almost colourless areas, while deeper violet gathers near several tips. Across its broad, irregular outline, the points rise at different heights rather than forming a tidy silhouette.
Bright white reflections skim the glossy, flat faces, contrasting with the rough, granular-looking base. Some areas are translucent, lending the cluster a lighter feel. Small dark specks and scattered yellow-brown patches add their own accents to the changing colours.
Amethyst takes its name from the Greek amethystos, recalling an old belief about sobriety. Here, the eye finds another story: an imagined luminous cavern, its lavender spires catching light above a rugged floor.
