Amethyst Cathedral: A Garden of Lilac Light
Purple and lilac points crowd the open arch of this amethyst cathedral, their angular faces catching bright white reflections. Dark shadows deepen the spaces between them. A broad white-to-pale-lilac border frames the sparkling interior, meeting a charcoal-grey exterior with a rough, grainy surface.
The upright outline narrows towards a rounded top, then widens into a generous base. Amethyst takes its name from the Greek amethystos, reflecting an old belief about sobriety—a little piece of language history held alongside the colours and contours.
In an imagined terraced garden, these clustered points could become lilac flower beds, with pale paths winding around their edges. Yet here the paths give way to facets: small flashes of white tucked among purple peaks.
