Purple Pathways in a Fluorite Drop
Purple spreads across this fluorite pendant, interrupted by white-to-cream patches and darker green-grey areas. Its smooth, glossy surface catches bright highlights along the curve, while the slightly asymmetrical outline narrows at the top and opens into a broad, rounded base. Irregular streaks give the colours their own wandering rhythm.
The mineral’s name carries a small piece of scientific history: in 1852, the word fluorescence was coined from fluorspar, another name for fluorite. It is a curious link between this crystal family and the language of light.
There is a miniature garden to imagine in these colours: dusky purple beds, green-grey corners, and cream-coloured steps crossing the terraces. The drop’s broad lower curve holds the scene like a little hillside, with one pale path wandering out of sight.
